Welcome to San Jacinto College! We’d like to inform you about an important subject that unfortunately affects many students. San Jacinto College prohibits all students and all college employees from engaging in sexual misconduct. Sexual misconduct is behavior of a sexual nature that is hostile, unwelcome, and intimidating. Words and phrases associated with sexual misconduct are: sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking.
Certain state and federal laws exist to guide students about how to report incidents of sexual misconduct and protect students who have experienced sexual misconduct. The same laws also guide colleges in the handling and investigation of these types of incidents.
Training Requirements
Did you know that, in the state of Texas, new college students are required to be trained about a college’s sexual misconduct policy during the first term of enrollment? San Jacinto College has answered that need and requires all students to take an online training titled “Sexual Misconduct Policy – Prevention and Awareness.”
San Jac students are also required to complete a training called ”U Got This." It is an online training designed to create awareness and encourage prevention of: sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. The online program also covers the role of alcohol in these circumstances, bystander intervention and offers resources available to our students.
These trainings are required before registering for classes in a future term or semester. Watching the Sexual Misconduct Policy video and completing the U Got This Awareness and Prevention Training during your first term at San Jacinto College is required. If you have not completed these requirements, an NA hold (Sexual Misconduct Awareness) will appear in your student account. The NA hold will restrict you from registering for a future term. Once you complete the video and the online training, allow 2 hours for your hold to be released, or you can visit the campus and ask an academic advisor or program advisor to release the hold. Please be prepared to provide a valid copy of your email completion. A valid paper copy or a valid viewable copy on your phone or device will be accepted.
Accessing the Training
New students at San Jacinto College can access these free trainings on their SOS accounts (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). New transfer students will also need to complete this training. Just follow these simple steps:
- Login to your SOS account at www.sanjac.edu/soslogin using your Student ID ‘G’ Number (e.g. Gxxxxxxxx) and your password. If you have never logged in to your SOS account, you will need to claim your SOS account by following the “Students” instructions at the same website.
- Click on the Students tile, then click on Student Concerns, and click the link “Sexual Misconduct Policy Training Video."
- Click the play button to access the training video.
- Next, in the Student Concerns tab, click the link “U Got This Awareness & Prevention Training," and the training will start.
- The training takes approximately 40 minutes.
