At San Jacinto College, we believe it is important to recognize those individuals who demonstrate our value of Excellence. Each year, faculty and staff receive Excellence Awards.
The College nominates one faculty Excellence Award winner to compete for the statewide Minnie Stevens Piper Professor Award. The state of Texas annually presents ten awards of $5,000 each to professors for superior teaching at the college level from all colleges and universities in the state.
The Excellence Award criteria/categories delineated in the nomination(s) are as follows and address the last two years of a person’s work and service:
- Dedication, service, and involvement in the college community
- Ability to serve as a role model and work collaboratively with others
- Contributions to addressing or meeting the needs of our students and/or our employees
- Exemplary attributes or qualifications for the selection committee to consider
All winners are recognized at a meeting of the Board of Trustees, and the Minnie Stevens Piper nominee is recognized at College commencement ceremonies.
