Department of Institutional Research & Data Science (IRDS)


Goals and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in development of a research program to support a college-wide Institutional Research System that meets or exceeds regional accreditation requirements;
  • Guide development of a data information system. Design, execute and report independent qualitative and quantitative research on issues that further the mission, values, and planning process at the College;
  • Serve as an advocate for data-informed decision-making processes within the institution;
  • Support creativity, individual strengths, and the professional development of the Institutional Research team;
  • Verify and analyze institutional and assessment data, provide policy-relevant interpretation of analyses, and design and prepare appropriate reports;
  • Design reporting procedures, complete and submit various state, federal and accreditation reports, including IPEDS, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), LBB, and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC);
  • Provide analytical support for Board of Trustees, Strategic Leadership Team, Recruiting, Enrollment Services, Student Services, Student Success Centers, Educational Technology, Grants Office, Facilities, Financial Aid and Business Offices, and Marketing functions of the College;
  • Conduct environmental scanning, GIS reporting, and data leadership for the Achieving the Dream initiative.
