2019 Aspen Institute Top 10 Finalist

Aspen Prize Top 10San Jacinto College is once again an Aspen Institute for Community College Excellence Top 10 Finalist. On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, the Aspen Institute named San Jacinto College as one of the top 10 community colleges in the nation. The College is now eligible for the top Aspen Prize, which will be awarded in March 2019.

“San Jacinto College offers strong workforce programs that are directly aligned to employer needs and job opportunities in the region—especially in health care, maritime, and petrochemical industries,” said Joshua Wyner, executive director of the Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program. “The college has also made significant investments in guided pathways reforms, ensuring that students receive strong, consistent advising to help them stay on track to completion."

The Aspen Award for Community College Excellence is presented every two years and is the nation’s signature recognition of high achievement and performance in America’s community colleges. From the more than 1,100 community colleges nationwide, San Jacinto College has twice been selected as a top 10 finalist and in 2017 was a Rising Star Award recipient as one of the top five community colleges in the nation. The recognition and Aspen Award is based on student academic achievement, degree and college completion, job placement, and minority and low-income student accomplishment.
