CPD Open House Events

The San Jacinto College Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) office holds quarterly Open House events at each of the three campus locations. The CPD office proudly showcases the wide variety of noncredit courses available for workforce training and leisure learning during these informal, come-and-go events. An Open House is an easy, convenient way for the community to meet one-on-one with CPD registration staff, course instructors, and grant representatives.

CPD has something for everyone in the community.  For youth, we offer fun and educational summer camps.  For the adult learner, our GED and ESL experts can help navigate basic educational requirements.   For Leisure Learning students seeking to expand their horizons, we have over 40 course options to master a new language, art, sport, or improve personal wellness. For those looking to retrain for a new career or obtain a professional certification, CPD offers a variety of courses in the Applied Trades and Technology, Health Occupations, Business and Computer/IT areas.  Careers include Welding, CNA, Medical Billing and Coding, computers, accounting, Lean Six Sigma, project management and more. For those who qualify, many job training programs are available at little or no cost to the student through the Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG), Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG), Accelerate Texas, and the Gulf Coast Ready to Work Grant.

The community is invited to join us at the next Open House to enjoy light refreshments and meet the CPD staff ready to help direct individuals on their educational pathways or leisure learning.

During recent Open House events, visitors have enjoyed:

  • FREE relaxing 5 minute massages offered by SJC Massage Therapy students
  • Tai Chi routines conducted by Master-level Instructors
  • Yummy Wilton cake decorating demonstrations
  • Jewelry exhibits by Beading Instructors
  • Aromatherapy demonstrations and free samples
  • ESL class demonstrations
  • Informational sessions with CPD Financial Aid representatives to learn about current grant-funded job training opportunities
