Leading by Example
We would never ask for support from our donors if we didn’t believe in the mission ourselves. Each year, our own employees donate to San Jac. It’s important to us to create a culture of giving.
San Jac employees lead by example, showing giving in action. We know it’s not solely up to our community donors to show support for our students’ success. This year, our ultimate goal is to reach 50% participation college-wide.
"I am a first-generation college student who came from a very poor family. I was the only one of my siblings to graduate high school. It took me 10 years to get my BA from UH between working full-time and sick family members. It was very difficult, and if I can help other first-generation students, maybe others won't have to struggle the way I did." — Shaun Stacey, Senior Administrative Assistant, CPD Education and Lifelong Learning
Employees are able to give year-round, of course. Each April is our big push, highlighting the many ways to give including the student emergency fund, the food pantry and different scholarships. As employees, you know the struggles students face with tuition, books, food and more – so we want to thank you for being champions and giving to address every need.
We all have very different jobs on widely different campuses, but the one thing we have in common is that we are all here to see students succeed. At San Jac, we come together as one college.
