Associate of Applied Science Degree in Maritime Transportation

Answering a distress call from local maritime employers for a better educated, more well-rounded, advanced entry level professional mariner, the San Jacinto College Maritime Program, guided by an advisory committee including many leaders in the local maritime industry, has developed this curriculum to provide the academics required of a two year college degree combined with U.S. Coast Guard approved maritime coursework.
Students will merge USCG approved and required maritime coursework with math, science and english classes which will allow them to be much more prepared for a professional career on the water and be much more attractive in the job market.
Graduates of this program will have exactly what local maritime employers are looking for in their new crew. These employers have been integral in designing this new maritime degree program and are anxious to hire the young people who complete the program.
With a very accessible location in La Porte, Texas, San Jacinto College is a full curriculum U.S. Coast Guard and STCW approved Maritime Program for today and tomorrow's working mariner.
Our San Jacinto College Maritime Technology and Training Center offers more than 70 U.S. Coast Guard or STCW approved classes. From the deckhand on a towboat to the captain of an oil tanker to the chief engineer on a turbine powered drillship, the San Jacinto College Maritime Program offers all of the required coursework and certifications.
