Requirements

Following are the requirements for entry into the RN-to-BSN program at San Jacinto College:

  1. Meet with an education planner in Educational Planning, Counseling & Completion.
  2. Complete an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS) from an accredited institution.
  3. Reflect a grade of C, or higher, in all previous nursing transfer courses.
  4. Hold an unencumbered, Texas RN licensure. Licensure must be valid throughout program completion.
  5. Be currently employed as a professional nurse (employment verification required).
  6. Cumulative GPA 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, while in RN-to-BSN program.
  7. Submit one recommendation letter from a health care employer (supervisor) or former nursing faculty. 

 

Steps to Apply

  1. If not previously enrolled at San Jacinto College, apply to the college through Apply Texas.
  2. Complete RN-to-BSN application.
  3. Pre-requisite courses completed, or in progress. 
  4. Required Online Employment Verification Form must be completed and submitted. See the link below.

Immunization Statement

Students enrolling in San Jacinto College programs with external learning experiences (i.e., clinical, practicum, externship, cooperative, etc.) will be required to comply with the immunization requirements and policies of the clinical/external learning sites to engage in all clinical/external learning experiences. Vaccination requirements at clinical/external learning sites are implemented pursuant to the independent authority of such facilities and are not mandated by San Jacinto College. Failure to meet the immunization requirements mandated by clinical/external learning sites may limit a student’s ability to complete the program and/or may delay the student’s graduation date. San Jacinto College does not process exemptions, and students should address potential vaccination exemptions directly with the clinical/external learning site.
