Supporting Test and Documents

A Meningitis Vaccination or booster is required for admissions if you are younger than 22. Meningitis clinics are offered throughout the year on our campuses, click HERE for dates and locations.

What To Do:

Obtain the vaccination from a private physician's office, clinic, or pharmacy, or through a public clinic.

Bring your immunization record to the Admissions Office on any San Jac campus or email it to:

The Meningitis Docs at Meningitis.Docs@sjcd.edu, or fax it to 281-669-4720.

For your convenience you may download the Vaccination Verification Form to provide to your physician.

Exceptions to the meningitis shot requirement are available to students by providing evidence of the following:

  • Students who are 22 years of age or older.
  • Students who are enrolled only in Continuing and Professional Development courses or corporate training programs that are less than 360 contact hours that are not linked to Credit classes.

Students who present conscientious exemption forms stating a decline of the vaccination for reasons of conscience, including religious belief can submbit the Conscientious Exemption Form to the admissions office.

Sending transcripts to San Jacinto College is pretty simple. There are two things you should take care of right away.

1.  Please request that your high school or each college/university you attended send an official transcript to:

San Jacinto College - Records Management

13735 Beamer Road

Houston, TX 77089

If you hold a associate's degree or higher you only need to submit a transcript from the school that awarded the degree, plus transcripts of any credit earned thereafter.

Please note: If you're applying for Financial Aid, all transcripts will be required.

2.  Please make an official request to have San Jacinto College evaluate your transfer college transcripts to determine what courses will transfer by visiting any campus student services office or by calling 281-998-6150.

San Jacinto College uses the TSIA exam to determine your college readiness levels in math, reading and writing. Before you meet with an advisor and attend new student orientation, it’s important that you take this exam. Your test scores will determine if you are ready for college level courses, or need a bit more practice with college preparatory courses. Testing takes place at your campus of choice, and can usually be completed in three to four hours.

Ready to get started? You will need to complete a TSIA Pre-Assessment Activity. Find a quiet location allowing for approximately 1-2 hours to review. Due to the nature of the material and navigation of the module, you should complete the activity in one sitting. This activity includes audio and video elements; therefore, please ensure you have access to working speakers or a headset.

Some students are exempt from placement testing. Do you have an associate degree or higher? Are you an active-duty military service member or an honorably discharged veteran? Did you take another test such as the SAT, ACT or TAKS and make a qualifying score? Qualifying scores are listed in the catalog.

Perhaps you have attended another college or university and have transfer classes that will help us assess your college-readiness. You might not need to test! These are some examples of placement testing exemptions. If you meet any of these requirements or believe you are exempt, please contact the Admissions Office via email at admissions@sjcd.edu or phone at 281-998-6150 before you take the state approved test.
