We assign all graduates a seat in advance. If you do not RSVP we have no way of knowing that you are coming. The deadline to RSVP is May 9, 2022.
Please email commencement@sjcd.edu and we will give you directions on what to do next.
Graduates should arrive by 5:45pm.
Graduates should enter Bud Plaza and head toward the Amegy gates. There will be San Jacinto College staff there to guide graduates to the entrance. Once inside you will be directed to the stadium floor.
Graduates will receive an email on 05/12/22 with their seat number. If you don't get the email, we will have staff directing you to your seat once you are on the stadium floor. Do not email us for your seat number just go to the stadium floor and we will have staff assisting you with seating.
Once the ceremony begins, we will ask you wait until we can seat you. We will seat you at the back of seating section and not in your assigned seat. Please make every effort not to be late.
Graduates who attend will have to stay on the stadium floor until the end of the ceremony. If you cannot stay for the whole ceremony, we ask that you consider coming another time.
You cannot carry anything into the seating area. Leave all belongings with your guests this includes purses, bubbles, flowers, etc. You cannot have anything but your name card that will be given to you at the ceremony when you cross the stage
Cell phones are allowed if carried in a pocket or a very small purse worn under gown that is not visible.
San Jacinto College has hired Flash Photography to photograph each graduate as they exit the stage, you will be contacted by the photographer directly regarding photos.
The college bookstore sells the approved regalia for commencement ceremony.
As long as the cap and gown are solid black with no other color you are good to wear it. The college is using a blue tassel this year and you can purchase that in the bookstore.
At this time these are the only approved specialty regalia that can be worn to the ceremony. You will be asked to remove any non-approved regalia worn to the ceremony so please leave it at home.
Honors graduates – medals given by the Honors department.
Phi Theta Kappa - gold stole or blue and gold cords ordered by student. (One or the other not both).
National Technical Honor Society - grey and purple cords or stole ordered by student.
Dual Credit Students - San Jacinto College medallion given by ECHS or Dual Credit Office. No other cords, tassels, or stoles given from the high school are allowed.
Veterans - red, white, and blue cords given out at commencement by Veteran Services.
No decorations are allowed on caps or gowns: You will be asked to remove any decorated regalia before walking across the stage. Please leave the decorations at home.
Arrive dressed in regalia. There will not be a dressing area at the stadium. Dress comfortably, for an indoor airconditioned environment. It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes. There is a lot of walking on cement floors including going up and down stairs as well as standing for long periods of time.
There are no tickets for the ceremony. There are no limits to the number of guests a graduate can invite. Seating is first come first seat and we do not reserve seating for guests.
NRG staff will be in the stadium to assist with seating for guests who need assistance.
There ceremony is approximately an hour and half long and that can be very long for some children to sit through. The ceremony is live streamed and can be watched at home.
Strollers are not permitted in the seating area, so strollers have to be left in the concourse area, there will not be anyone monitoring the strollers.
